Our Mission

The BioinfoUI Training Programme is a student-run initiative dedicated to creating clear, structured pathways for undergraduates in Nigeria and across Africa to learn bioinformatics. Our model is rooted in peer-to-peer learning, where students step up to teach, mentor, and support one another while gaining real-world skills in genomics and computational biology.

Beyond training, we measure outcomes by tracking skill acquisition, mentorship quality, and curriculum gaps. This helps us design scalable, student-led models that can inform curriculum reform and strengthen career development for young scientists.

Our vision is to grow a vibrant community of African bioinformaticians. Over the next five years, BioinfoUI aims to train more than 1,000 undergraduates, equipping them with the expertise to make meaningful contributions to research, innovation, healthcare, and biotechnology across the continent.
